Expert Care from Dr. Moeckel
At Carmel Mountain Dental Care, Dr. Marie Ann Moeckel specializes in long-lasting, durable dental implants. Why choose an implant? Here are just a few of the benefits.
Dental implants last 30+ years, making them the best long-term method for restoring missing teeth. While they cost more than other methods of tooth restoration up-front, dental implants are a better long-term investment.
Dental implants look and feel just like natural teeth. Your implants will be indistinguishable from real teeth when you speak, smile, laugh, eat, and chew!
Simply brush and floss, and see the team at Carmel Mountain Dental Care for a check up every six months. That’s it!
"The team at Carmel Mountain Dental Care saw me same-day when I chipped my front tooth. They relieved my pain and fixed my smile in no time! I would recommend them to anyone who finds themselves in a dental emergency!"
"I have been a patient at CMDC for 3 years now. This place is truly a gem and I will not go anywhere else! I have seen multiple hygienists and two different dentists, they have all treated me with the best care, respect and great service. I have a lot of sensitivity, they keep that in mind and are gentle. They truly go above and beyond for their patients and I no longer dread the dentist! Thank you!"
There are two different parts that make up a dental implant. The first part is a piece of titanium, which is shaped like a screw and designed to be surgically implanted directly into your gums and jaw bone. Over time, it heals and becomes an artificial tooth root, allowing it to support a false tooth.
The second part is known as an “implant-supported restoration.” Implant-supported restorations are built to attach to one or more dental implants, and replace your missing teeth.
Dental crowns are the most common type of restoration, and are used to replace one missing tooth. Depending on your case, though, a dental bridge, or a set of implant-supported dentures may be used.
It will take several appointments over a period of 3-6 months to get dental implants. First, you’ll need to come to Carmel Mountain Dental Care for an appointment with Dr. Marie Ann Moeckel. She will examine your mouth, and determine if you’re a good candidate for implants. Then, she will take images and x-rays of your mouth and jaw, and begin planning your treatment.
You will come back in a few weeks, and have your implant placed. Dr. Moeckel will clean and numb the treatment area, and create an opening in your jaw and gum tissue, where the implant will be placed. Then, the area will be cleaned and sutured shut to promote healing.
Over the next 2-3 weeks, you’ll heal from the initial implant placement process. However, it will take about 3-6 months for your implant to permanently bond with your jaw bone through the process of “osseointegration.”
You will come into our office for a few follow-up appointments while you heal. At your appointments, Dr. Moeckel will check your progress, and will also begin designing your implant-supported restoration.
Once your mouth is fully healed, you’ll come in for your final appointment. Dr. Moeckel will check your implant-supported restoration to make sure it fits perfectly, then bond it into place, restoring your smile.
