Cosmetic Dentistry Pros & Cons

If you live in or near Carmel Valley, Rancho Bernardo or 4S Ranch and you’re interested in orthodontics, we can help at Carmel Mountain Dental Care!

We offer both traditional braces and Invisalign. When our patients consider orthodontic treatment, they often ask about the cost, results, and treatment times of both procedures. Here’s a breakdown to make it easier to get informed about which treatment option may be best for you, your needs, and your budget:

Invisalign Vs. Braces – What’s Cheaper?

Due to the different nuances of both Invisalign and traditional braces, there’s no real way to give you a cost estimate of either treatment without coming in for a consultation at Carmel Mountain Dental Care.

Though we can’t tell you exactly how much each treatment will cost, both treatments are usually fairly comparable in price. There may be a little bit of variation between the cost of Invisalign vs. braces, but they’re typically quite close in price.

Once you’ve completed your orthodontic consultation at Carmel Mountain Dental Care, one of our dentists will provide you with a more in-depth estimate of your treatment’s cost. To get more information and a quote for Invisalign or braces, we recommend that you come in for a consultation right away.

Invisalign Vs. Braces – Which Offers Better Results?

Both Invisalign and braces offer a beautiful smile, straighter teeth, and a healthy bite. If your orthodontic issues can be treated with either of these procedures, you can expect very similar results.

However, traditional braces are a more powerful and versatile method of smile correction compared to Invisalign. While Invisalign offers similar results for patients with mild-to-moderate orthodontic issues, braces are a better option if you have problems like a malpositioned bite, very crowded teeth, or large gaps between your smile.

Invisalign Vs. Braces – Which Treatment Is Faster?

Invisalign offers a much faster treatment than braces. Most patients will require somewhere between 20-24 sets of aligners to correct their smiles, and each set will be worn for about 2 weeks. This means that the average treatment time with Invisalign is less than a year.

Braces, on the other hand, usually require at least 12-18 months to straighten your teeth. If you have more complex orthodontic problems, you may need to wear them for 2-3 years or longer. If you are a good candidate for Invisalign, it will almost always be a faster way to correct your smile compared to traditional braces.
