Our Top Tips For Getting The Most Out Of Your Invisalign Treatment

At Carmel Mountain Dental Care, we specialize in Invisalign for patients in San Diego. Dr. H. Jonathan Lee & Dr. Marie Ann Moeckel have treated hundreds of patients with Invisalign clear plastic aligners, and our extensive experience makes us a superior choice for your treatment.

If you are looking for Invisalign options in Carmel Mountain Ranch, Rancho Bernardo, Poway, Del Sur, or 4S Ranch, we’re here to help! We’ll always give you the honest advice and guidance you’ll need for an effective Invisalign treatment!

Here’s some of our top tips to make sure our Invisalign patients get the most out of their treatment in Rancho Penasquitos!

1. Floss Every Day

One of the biggest advantages of Invisalign is that you can take out your aligners to brush and floss, unlike traditional braces. Make sure to you’re taking advantage of this benefit as much as possible throughout your treatment to keep your mouth healthy and avoid issues down the road!

2. Wear A New Aligner As Much As Possible For At Least 48 Hours

your Invisalign in Rancho Peñasquitos dentist, Dr. Lee or Dr. Moeckel, wear it as much as you can for the first 48 hours. Remove it only to eat and brush your teeth. This will help your mouth “adjust” to the new aligner, and ensure that you get the fastest possible results.

3. Always Wear Your Aligners For 22 Hours Per Day (Or More)

You should be wearing your aligners as much as possible. 22 hours per day is ideal, and the more you wear them, the faster your results will be. If you don’t wear your aligners for 22+ hours per day, your treatment will take much longer.

4. Don’t Stress About Adjusting To Proper Speech – It Comes With Time!

Invisalign is almost impossible to notice, but speaking is a bit difficult at first. You’ll tend to sound “lispy”. Don’t worry! After a few days of wearing your aligners, you’ll adjust and you’ll be able to speak normally.

5. Care For Your Trays Properly

You should clean your aligners every morning when you brush your teeth, with antibacterial soap and warm water. You should also rinse them out every evening, after you brush your teeth, and before bed. This ensures there is minimal bacteria buildup on your aligners.

6. Keep Your Teeth Extra Clean

Be diligent about brushing and flossing properly while wearing Invisalign. Because Invisalign sits right up against your teeth, it can trap bacteria and plaque against your teeth, so you want to minimize the amount of bacteria in your mouth.

7. Wear Your Retainer After Treatment

If you don’t wear your retainer after your Invisalign treatment is complete, your teeth will begin to shift back into their original positions, and your time, money, and efforts will be wasted. Wear your retainer after treatment, and do so exactly according to the instructions you’re given by Dr. Lee or Dr. Moeckel!
